As a child, I was afraid of what I couldn’t see in the dark. An unseen corner could feel as though something was hiding there, and even the smallest shadow could grow into something frightening in my imagination.
This series began with that childhood fear, then grew into an exploration of fears that followed me into adulthood — fears of the unknown, of ourselves, of losing safety and freedom, and of the violence human beings can inflict on one another.

Skipping Rope
Inspired by photographs of shadows left by the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. What first appears to be the shadow of a child at play becomes a reflection on war — and on my deepest fear: what human beings are capable of doing to one another.
